Home. Such a word is thrown around too often to hold any meaning, yet can still contain so much definition and importance. For months now this concept has lacked from Yuna’s dictionary, almost non-existent and was nothing more than the formation of four letters. She had traveled far and she had traveled to many places, none of them consisting of this word or being labeled as such. Some say ‘home is where the heart is,’ but what heart did she have to place this banner into to call it such a place? Certainly not her own, for it was flighty, unstable, and lacked much substance. And surely, there was no one else. Her mother had gone and her father had gone mad, and all she had were the twins whom she hadn’t seen in what seemed like ages. Besides the fact that they were far too young carry such a name. No, home was something that Yuna had forgotten about for many moons now.
Until now that is.
Somehow, without any sense of direction, placement, or location of where she was on the map, one day she had headed in a way that called to her heart. It was strange, the feeling she obtained. It was a sort of pulling, as if an outside force had clenched around her and began to tug at her. Yuna wasn’t sure what any of it meant, but she knew that she must go back, back to where she came from. Whether it was the right way or not, she followed this ghostly presence. Only when she began to break through the trees and foliage to enter a vast area with a large pool of water sunning itself in the center of the clearing did she realize where she was now.
Home.
Slowly and surely she entered, peering around to make sure she was really here and not a doppelganger of the place she had once known. After all this time, it appeared all the same in her eyes. Every flower was in its same spot, glowing with color and life. Not a blade of grass was touched or missing as it swayed in the sweet wind, and even the crunching of sand beneath her feet still sang the same song as it did before. Reaching the waters, she closed her eyes and dipped her maw in, slowly taking in the cool liquid. Yes, this was it. She was back. Slowly opening her lids open once more, Yuna released a content sigh, and one of accomplishment. Through some way or how, she had returned, and this time, for good. Her muscles ached slightly due to the long journey, for the pull was so strong she refused to rest, and if she did, it was for only a short period of time before she was off running. Slowly, she made her way into the crystalline waters, and Yuna smiled warmly at how it eased her mind and body. Releasing her muscles and all tension within them, she drifted around and waded in the waters, cooling off and finally, feeling at peace once more.
