Ebon and magenta lined lids fluttered open as the snow white beauty awoke suddenly. She didn't even wonder what had awaken her; it was always the same. Her painted mother was nuzzling her; her soft lips gliding over her cheek and neck and straightening her ever growing locks. Gematria's lips traced the pattern of the ebon roses that graced her daughter's flesh. The filly sighed; a pleased sort of sound. She loved her mother dearly and though she wasn't precisely ready to wake up yet, she didn't mind it all.
Her snow white face lifted, ebon freckles darkening each day. She nuzzled her mother in return; a soft smile on her lips; her dark eyes dancing with love. She looked up at the night sky; starless and still touched by the fading light of the sun; the moon yet to rise. Her eyes matched that sky and she smiled; thinking of the times her mother had compared the beauty of her eyes to the sky.
The little filly stood and shook herself out and then moved closer to her mother; brushing her body along her mother's limbs. After nursing for a moment she stopped; not truly hungry and looked out into the shadows that were growing darker by the second. She wasn't hungry, or tired, but she couldn't make a move for those shadows until her mother was asleep. She'd never get away from her any other way. Gematria's lips were still tracing the patterns of the roses upon Lore's flesh so she knew she wasn't going to slip away unnoticed.
Her dark eyes watched the shadows with longing, though she wasn't minding her mother's attentions at all. She knew what was out there though, and so she waited. She had more patience and concentration than a child her age should and after a while Gematria's lips left her flesh. She waited several moments more and then carefully turned to see her mother's head hanging low and her eyes closed. Her breathing was deep, slow, steady. Lore stole herself for the first step then she moved, her snowy ears flicking back, eyes watching her mother and the shadows at nearly the same time. There was no reaction and so she hurried as quietly as she could and moved into the shadows.
She felt as if she'd gone only a few steps into the darkness when she saw him. She stopped and stared; a smile upon her face as she took in the sight of him, as she always did. His jet black form was thick and tall and glinted in the black night. He looked like he was both shadow and light; a living example of death. [smear:FF00FF]"Father!"[/smear:330033:3] Lore whispered in her tinkling voice.
"My darling girl, my glistening pearl." Abigor greeted his daughter; closing the distance between them as he caressed her cheek with his black lips.
