T A N I S Do not fool yourself into thinking this planet is now safe Short pillars carried the grullo form onwards into her new journey, unknowing of what lies ahead of her, only certain that there would be trials; after all that’s all one could truly be certain of. Consistency was not a concept of this world, however, the majority of situations are that in which one is forced to prove themselves able to survive during the tasks given at hand. Her homeland had proven this to be true since the moment she was born, a frail small frame when the average foal of her mother’s herd was much larger. They were all what you would expect coming from such lineage, warriors and killers there only to reproduce and survive nothing more nothing less. They were all of draft lineage, as was Tanis but distant blood got the odds and she was born with the figure of a Connemara pony and a desire to know, to learn and to understand the workings of the world. Emotional aspects of relationships with others were never really anything Tanis took seriously, she never understood how one could hate or love another mutual respect was all that existed for her and this was why she was okay with being forbidden to rejoin the herd, in fact she was elated at the news and took it as a privilege, took it that they saw how much more she was than just living as they did. She moved with grace and with caution, not only was her frame short but she was not a very strong creature she was quick, nimble and most of all clever and tactful. She was a fast thinker and was able to predict actions that may be taken before they were, she knew a lot of nature and wild uncultured creatures other than equines and she used to this to her advantage. Dainty daggers seemed to float over the earth’s surface at an even gate of one two, one two, one two, emerald green orbs taking in the surroundings as she passed through the lands of Run Like the Wind. Each step she made was met with a quick crunch of the pines beneath her, the air was chilled and quite frigid it was the end of fall and the beginning of winter. Breezes dotted with flakes of shredded ice danced as the flakes laced themselves in the mare’s dark long thick mane, canvas and tail that drug the earth at the tip leaving a trail behind her when it actually touched on the down spots of her gate. Her mane hung just past her shoulder and her long forelock was parted to the side, leaving her vision fully open so she could do her regular observations. Every now and then, pines spotted the canvas though they were a rare site, especially when a large rocky formation came into view in the distance. Tilting her head the mare was intrigued by the seemingly misplaced mound of hardened molten lava, eventually getting to a rocky and no longer pine covered ground. The pebbles and rocks were soft, due to the wear from lapping waves from what seemed to be black pond, the sound of splashing and collision of water upon the stone was one that relaxed the mare whom was now halted yards away from the expansive shore line. Bright sunrays shot out of the clouds, bringing a little warmth to the cold atmosphere, the shards of ice appeared to be crystals falling from the sky landing and melting upon the bushed brindled pelt on the mare’s rump. While it did not amount to anything the snow did dampen the mare’s pelt and in this cold air sent shots of cold up her spine leaving her uncomfortable but manageable she exploited no sign of the sensation outwardly. Deep breaths chilled her plural cavity as the cold winter air replaced the warm carbon from inside her, puffing out of her nostrils and mug as if she were a fire breathing dragon. Her throat and mouth were dry, due to her steady constant never breaking pace she kept, one, two, three, one, two, three over and over again like a well-oiled and maintained machine. Now, beneath the mare’s ivory hooves were the pebbles and rocks that lined the shore, hooves getting dampened by the mist and sprays of water from the ever constantly moving water. Her dry throat and mouth urged her to drink up the surely cold liquid, but the mare knew better, for this was not the clear or blue water that was commonly found and universally known as safe to drink, but it was a dark almost black color but moved like anyone would expect water to move like. Even knowing that she was dehydrated the mare took caution even letting the possible toxin touch her dainty frame, she walked along the waterline now, observing the activity of the water and examining the what appeared to be an island type of land. Halting, the mare displaced a dozen pebbles with the sudden stop her frame towards directly towards the island as something in the distance moved upon it. She huffed her breath, a puff of fog formed and she reached her boa out taking a step into the direction of the distant land and one hoof daring to plunge into the water. She narrowed her emerald pools as to attempt to focus but as soon as she saw the movement it was gone, gears inside of her head began to turn; it looked so dead over there why would anything living be on that wasteland would? Unless it wasn’t a wasteland…. Unless it was something great and undiscovered! Her mug formed a huge grin, her twin peaks pinned against her crown and looking at her hoof nearest the water she challenged the unknown, her next dagger plunged its way into the lagoon. Her mind now on gear to reach the distant island, soon however the mare found herself into deeper waters and her short frame was forced to turn back to the shore which was 13 or so yards away only stopping when her daggers were resting peacefully on the ground below the black fluid. There has to be a way across. I have to figure out what that was. I have to figure out what's over there. she began walking along the edge, finding it was uneven and would sometimes go out further in places than others. Maybe there is a bridge type formation under the water that would at least get me close enough to reach the other side… She stood in the water wading here and their attempting to find some sort of path towards her mission, not paying any mind to who may or may not be watching her. speech Muse: very good | 1128 | Open

Dark eyes slit lazily at the sound of pebbles being knocked out of place. The look upon the beast's face almost looked bored, auds twitching at the break in the silence. The hairs along his spine rose as he became alert, yet his façade never faltered. His long unruly tail flickered against his red flanks before he swiveled around and moved into a brisk walk through the chilly winter air. The blood stained stallion hid himself behind a snow covered bush, not wanting to be the first to be spotted. He wanted the upper hand and by the looks of the female calmly walking towards the water's edge, he had gone unnoticed. Crimson oculars watched the grullo fae as she stopped at the shoreline. She was petite compared to him, and while they were both darkly colored, she was fairly lighter than he was. In many aspects. Her bodice literally spat out mutt. She had literally so many breeds in her, he suspected, that no one could tell exactly what she was anymore. The observant devil noticed Spanish roots within her, but her small stature spoke volumes of her other lineage. It was sad really. A mockery to the powerful lines of the Andalusian breed. She was either a runt with stunted growth, a disgrace, or she had pony within her. He nearly gagged on the word. Ponies were weaklings that needed to be stomped out. Just like every other bit of trash on this earth. He began to speculate if she was of a light heart as well. Odd pools monitored her every move as she made to drink the water, but stopped short. The kingly brute arched an elegant brow, did she think it was tainted? He snorted. It was just a black lake. The color did not necessarily mean it was tainted. Did the female have any sense to sniff it? To see if it was actually bad instead of taking the cautious route? He snorted. Weak.

He couldn't even pity the weaker sex. They were easily susceptible to stress and flipped their lids much too easily. They were weak in body and mind. Though there were the rare cases. This mare however, did not look like one of those rare cases. But looks could be deceiving. He sincerely hoped she wasn't a highly emotional one. He absolutely abhorred females crying. He narrowed his eyes as he watched her walk along the shore line, each step calculated and precise. At least she wasn't clumsy or rushed. She kept an elegance about her that he could admire. He moved around the bush as she drew near, keeping himself out of sight. While he did amend her for her elegance, he began wondering just what the hell she was doing skirting around the lake. He had come here for a drink and possibly a dip but had been interrupted by the wench before him. He was brought out of his musing as she slid to a stop, causing more pebbles to scatter. That was an infernal sound and it agitated the blood-stained bastard more than it should have. He pinned his auds back flat against his skull, eyes unwavering from the petite bodice of the fae. She seemed transfixed by something, something that had obviously diverted all of her attention to itself. One aud pinned forward as a brow arched with it, silently wondering what she was looking at. Women were so easily amused it seemed. It was a dead island in the middle of a black lake. Nothing superficial about that. The beast rolled his vermilion optics and huffed a snort, his long tag flicking against the bush and knocking snow onto his spine. He flinched slightly and turned to look at the snow with malice in his visionaries before he turned back to the mare. She was moving forward now, towards the center of the lake..to the island. Arching a brow he continued to watch her, wondering how far she would get before giving up. It did not take long for the mare to get to turn back around and he smirked. Just as predicted.

The red-hued monster moved from behind the bush as she waded around in the shallow part of the lake. She was obviously searching for something and his mind immediately registered that she must be looking for some way across to the island. It was almost painful to watch as she tried to sate her curiosity. He kept moving, his plate sized hooves moving silently along the pebbles and into the depths. He waded through the black ice, the chill it brought was nothing but a slight ache to the stag, nothing he couldn't handle. As he neared the fae, he spoke out, his voice deep and silky; "It's a dangerous thing...letting your guard down."

T A N I S Do not fool yourself into thinking this planet is now safe Cool slaps of the dark blackened liquid sent small chills through the mare, though her coat was dense and held many layers, one of the benefits of her lineage. Her front right dagger dug within the hidden rock infested stands below her, blocked by her vision by the pure nature of the color the water was stained. She would perhaps never know exactly why, however she was no longer interested with the color of the liquid she now waded within and instead whatever the object was on the seemingly forgotten and abandoned island that cast its shadow over her. A loud clatter of pebbles being thrown caught the mare’s auditory towers, someone was approaching, the twin-towers pinned down but she did not look back in the direction of whomever was approaching. Not until the noise hit the waves, disrupting the natural order more than she already had did she even consider looking behind her, but once the splash of the water took place she quickly turned her white stained face towards the beast, her green orbs piercing those of the beast before her. His orbs were held within a face, they were a vibrant red, though his mask was black though other than markings projecting from his banner that matched the blackness of his face he was the color of fresh blood. Winds tussled his long black mane that radiated to a dark grey near the last few inches, nappy tangles were evident and they came to a pause as he came deeper within the pond, dampening the strands causing the weight to restrain them from dancing any longer. Flakes had amounted up from the slow fall and now the pebbles were wet with the melting snow, being kept warm by the earth’s surface heated the rocks and kept the water from getting too cold and kept the snow melted as it fell near and upon the pebbles. Displaced pebbles out of the river shown dry pebbles, making it evident if you paid attention to tell what direction one had traveled from. Turning her entire bodice towards the towering beast, her crown arching to allow her orbs to peer upwards to get a look at anything more than his knees, black went up to his knee on his left side but none on his right while the opposite was true of the back where the right limb held the black marking and his left was untainted by the muddy color until the waters lapped up and darkened it. She stood alert to the brute, realizing that she had, in fact, let her guard down and for what? Some mysterious movement on a forgotten island… who knows what it could hold… what mystery and answers… perhaps… she stopped her thoughts and turned her attention towards the brute whom she should probably have been quivering in fear of but instead was curious as to what his next move would be. Her daggers moved her front diagonal from the brute, as to allow herself an escape route to run in out of range of the brute and to where he would have to turn himself to fallow her giving herself a half of a second advance. She also took note of the scenery in that direction, noting the clearer paths for one of her build. It's a dangerous thing...letting your guard down. For a giant the brutes tones fit, they were low and bellowed but had a silk like tone to them, very soft instead of edgy. Her frame was quite shorter than his, and while she did have a masculine frame his was more pronounced, like comparing a corgi to a bulldog. Gathering her thoughts she really did not know what to say to the obvious statement made by him, though she felt it might be socially unacceptable to go without responding at all, and as much as she would like to just shrug this brute off and just go off on her own to where she felt more… alone… she knew she needed some sort of tie within the boundaries she found herself whether that was going to be friend or foe she was not positive. Usually I am more precautious. I guess I just got caught up within my mind. Her words were spoken clearly though with a small frame her voice was higher pitched but not to an annoying high. She gave a light snort and the steam from her nares rose never reaching the height of the stallion before disappearing in the sky above. His chest rumbled with a hum as he watched the mare. She wasn't completely stupid it seemed, she had noticed him, even though he had been very silent. But alas, being an equine with blasted hooves wasn't exactly the easiest way to sneak around. So in reality the feat she just preformed wasn't exactly the most elaborate. Nothing to shake a stick at. And as he had observed from afar, she was extremely small compared to himself. It was actually quite shocking. He had seen foals larger than her. His odd crimson oculars moved from her bright green irises to finally observe more than her shortness. She was much prettier up close. While Madara wasn't exactly a feminist and actually detested the weaker sex, he had no doubt that many were beautiful though he had never seen true beauty. True beauty that he knew would be the only female for him. This mare was simply pretty. Her small white face framed her bright green oculars and the grullo of her pelt accented the color of her eyes beautifully and the stripes along her legs and hips were very good accents to her over all look, but nothing extremely striking. In all honesty, the blood-stained brute thought she looked pretty bland. The only thing not bland about the female was the pure curiosity in her gaze. His black lips quirked up into a grin. "Didn't your mommy ever tell you? Curiosity killed the cat." He mused as he watched her. There was a certain intelligence there, many females possessed it. It was a knowledge that went beyond all others. Instinct almost. Something the Gods chose to grace them with in a form of pity. It was actually pretty sad, to have the gods pity you. Even to the point that they weaker sex needed males to protect them. It was laughable but also very very annoying. He didn't have time or the patience to continually protect a female, they just got in the way and they screamed and cried and he absolutely hated crying. From anyone.

He snapped back to the here and now when the fae moved. His observed her as she put herself at an angle. An escape route He chuckled deeply, the sound vibrating within his chest. 'Admirable..' So the female wasn't a complete idiot? That was something he could shake a stick at. In that one moment, the female became monumentally more interesting. She had the ability to think. He cocked his black façade to the side, odd eyes watching her silently. She spoke and he just stood there, listening to her very feminine voice and his opts narrowed slightly at her words, lips curling up very slightly in a smirk. Ah yes, she was a curious one. But he wondered just how far her curiosity went. Would it be enough to make her forget the dangers around her? It had obviously done so before. While he did not want to snuff that curiosity out of the younger mare, he felt that it wasn't exactly something she should let flow around freely, though if it were gone, it would be quite a pity. He snorted, shaking his skull and looking towards the island. 'You're a curious one..wondering what's on that island." He mused, giving her a sidelong glance and a small smirk. The stag instantly wanted to play with the mare's mind, to see how far he could take her before she snapped and lashed out at him. He chuckled and moved past her, deeper into the water. He stopped where she would end up having to swim, but the water simply touched his chest before he turned back to her. "Come on then, if you want to know, lets go find out." He snapped, slight irritation melting into his words. He gave her a look that spoke volumes of the lack of patience the stallion possessed. Despite this, he had decided to humor the young mare and sate her curiosity. He had nothing better to do afterall.

T A N I S Do not fool yourself into thinking this planet is now safe Silence never seemed to find its way in this place, there was always something carrying on, animals crying out some howling, water sloshing around in its restrained position, birds and bats flapping above to provide a meal for their young. Nature was not quite, it is not still. Nature was ever changing, humid, dry, wet, frozen, hot, or cold but if you listened it would tell you everything you needed to know. It would warn you of the oncoming cold, or of a lurking predator, of a storm that was near the horizon; you just need to learn to listen. Tanis stood in the cool shallow end of the lake, watching the brute as he stood before her, what would his true intentions be? He shifted his weight before her, she was ever on edge and could feel her daggers as they edged closer to just jetting off, but she kept them grounded. His chest rumbled after she situated herself at her angle, her way out of dangers path, surely he thought little of the minx such a short stature. Then suddenly he moved his attention off of her and onto the island, something inside of her broiled anger fumed inside of her but was kept contained and not given entry upon her facade nor her tones. He was wanting to know why she was interested in the seemingly empty plot of land, and she was not one to give away her ideas and secrets, many of the equine thought it foolish to wonder about the world and such things about it and this was why she was a loner. She knew she was better off for understanding how the world was and why it did things that it did, they just were afraid of what they do not understand. His blood curdling smirk parted, and his dark tones erupted with a cloud of smoke seemingly miles above her. You're a curious one. Wondering what's on that island. He waded through the waters, the tides that he created by simply moving swept over the back of the mare at some points she lifted her mug as to not dampen her crown. After a few steps he had reached a point to where she would be completely under water, of course she could attempt swimming but let’s face it, her short limbs would not last long. Once he had stopped he spoke again Come on then, if you want to know, let’s go find out. she wanted to go dearly, but not with this brute. Her subconscious could feel the way he held himself this was just leisure for him, when she went to the island she wanted to be as quiet of a spectator as she could at least until she discovered what was going about. Even if he was not truly a threat, she would be potentially stranded on an island if he decided to leave, or she would lose out on the serenity of the island itself. My kind of exploring is to observe. I’m afraid your tall, robust stature would not do well with such tasks. She said so not concerned if he would attack her, she was not running yet, but nor had she advanced towards him. She had decided that she would go with him if he insisted again but only because perhaps being lost on an island would be probably one of the better things that had happened to her. She spoke once more, leaving the door open to actually go to the island with him. This time offering him a favor for his assistance. However. Madara couldn't help the chuckle that emitted from his lips, a feisty one! His crimson oculars snaked over to the grullo missus and a sly grin painted across his lips, black harks flickering forward at her words. My kind of exploring is to observe. I’m afraid your tall, robust stature would not do well with such tasks. He was flattered by her statement, but also slightly offended. The diva narrowed his eyes and took on a haughty facade. His unruly tag flickered against his flanks, splattering water everywhere around him. "Little mouse, I hope, for your sake, you are not doubting my abilities." He nearlly hissed as he watched her. He had seen the anger flit across her eyes earlier, how she wanted to bolt, but curiosity kept her in place and Madara quite enjoyed that fact. He stood still as the sun began to drift lower, settling well into the afternoon, the heat of the sun had decreased almost ten fold and this made the stag slightly irritated. He preferred the heat, it was a welcome feeling, something he was used to. He knew what it was like to work for what you wanted, knew what it felt like to sweat from every pour, the strain on each and every muscle, the satisfying pain echoing through each nerve, yes the warmth was something he preferred to the cold, the cold meant you were dead. And the blood-stained stallion wasn't exactly keen on being dead just yet. He had a full life ahead of him, he may be twelve years old, but that didn't meant he was old.

Crimson oculars watched the mare as she stood there and the already irritable stallion grew even more irritated, if it were even possible. She was beginning to lose his interest and those that lost the stag's interest ended up dead or barely alive, the war-torn stag wondered which she would end up being. However. If you did help me cross, seeing as my short stature it’s nearly impossible, I would owe you a favor. Rage boiled within him, did she think him so low as to accept a favor? He did not need her favors! He was a God among mortals. A favor from this mare would equal to a speck of dirt on a flea! His black nares flared wide and he stared at her for a moment. "Come then, grab on and let us go see your island, along the way, we will discuss this favor." He ground out, waiting for the mare silently.

T A N I S Do not fool yourself into thinking this planet is now safe Darkness seemed to be fading over the little pond, the surrounding forest, and her prized little island that lay a long distance away from her. It began to hide the outline of the various towering trees it began to shelter the mountains in the further distance from her emerald oculars, it began to irritate her. Not that she would have gotten over there if it was not for the stag, standing there looking a little more than irritated at the company he had encountered. But if it wasn’t for his intimidating figure, his blood stopping gaze with the unnatural shapes around his pupils, she would have been out of the cold crisp liquid that now slapped her side, nearing her belly as the tide seemed to pick up with his every breath – at least to someone his scale. If it wasn’t for him, this seemingly harmless brute and his seemingly short temper, she would have found shelter and perhaps would have already been rested and finding a new place to continue resting. Finding her second resting spot to reduce the chance of being another being’s late dinner, ever moving and changing her position this was how she helped secure her safety. But she was not dry, she had not had the chance to configure a way to cross the pond on her own, she was standing here, in the ever growing shadow of the brute before her – she was standing here nearly relying on the response of him to decide what her next move would be. She was nearly unrecognizable to herself, communicating and making a contract initiating a contract with someone that could easily end her life with one blow to her frail, sleek tri toned crown. Peering into the once widened eyes, they were now narrowed and they hid some hint of anger, the brute was upset over something. At the thought, the little mare’s heart began to pound she formed a mental image of the path that she had scoped out before, before she had offered her idiotic contract sort of deal. Before she turned into a completely stereotypical equine of any time, relying on anyone of her species, let alone one that was far less experienced in the scientific aspect and way of living. Never the less the mare did not let her orbs wonder, didn’t let her body shift or tense, she had control, she was in control. Little mouse, I hope, for your sake, you are not doubting my abilities. Abilities? Doubt? One of the mare’s orbs narrowed as she stood slightly confused at what the brute was insinuating. Her mouth opened and she could not stop the tones that were released in consequence of her inability to think before she speaks at the most curtail of times. How could I doubt your abilities ? I don’t even know your name! I find it quite silly to be offended over a stranger’s circumlocution! While she knew she shouldn’t have spoken, the mare stood and let the tones leak through her kissers laced with offence and perhaps one could decipher what could be considered amusement or very slight pity. The mare cocked her crown to the side, the soft spoken tones now only ringing in her head and she stood ready to bolt, as always, if the situation arrived to where it would be appropriate to do so. Anger dressed the black stallion, Tanis was readily aware of his every movement including the increase in his breathing – thanks to the spray from the water that now reached up to her rib cage or so. With his nairs flared the mare watched with her orbs now wide and her heart beating just as fast as before until his tones broke the silence Come then, grab on and let us go see your island, along the way, we will discuss this favor. With every ounce of doubt wiped away, the mare looked almost as if she was befuddled, she was stunned that he actually wanted to wade this tiny frame across black water to venture on some island that she was only interested in because of movement, and perhaps the slight possibility that she may just get lost and be forgotten to all others of her species, and she could live and survive happily on an unexplored uninhabited(by equine) land. Barely parting her lips she muttered out a single word in response Okay….. She shifted her frame toward his, eyeing his long, tangled, possibly inhabited by other life forms mane doubting if this was possibly the best decision to make only to conclude that she had nothing better to do especially now that his presence was here. Her small nairs nudged a group of the tangled mess that was his mane and gathered it in his mouth, in such a way that she didn’t have an over flow of water in her mouth, though she was only able to breathe through her nostrils.
