Allegiances: An in-depth guide.I've seen many people ask about allegiances and what each one is all about, so I made this thread to give everyone a good idea of what the two Kingdoms as well as all of the Bands are like, and what types of characters best fit in with each one!

Altus was formed in the wake of the death of a great Queen. In the time of Light and Dark, a group known as the Unaligned had formed, ruled by two Queens: Vita Cinis and Paralyzer. A stallion called Pestilence returned to the lands after many years, and with a plan in mind. For reasons unknown by most equine of the lands, Pestilence slayed Vita Cinis, the last remaining Unaligned Queen after Paralyzer had left the lands earlier that year. The Harbingers who were Unaligned themselves were very close with Vita Cinis, and stumbled upon her as she lay dying. In her final breaths, she named them the new Royals of the Unaligned Kingdom, and after the war had ended and the Lights were disbanded, they made the Unaligned Kingdom into the Kingdom of Altus, Antioch being their Royal land.
After a run-in with the former Light Queen, Paranoia, The Harbingers were forced to kill her, and made the decision to depart the lands and hand over their kingdom. A young brute, only three years of age, was given the throne. Cadomir, who was related to former Unaligned and Neutral royals, claimed his territory of Vahill and began to build his reputation as a King.

Altus, being formerly Unaligned, still holds many of the values that the Unaligned held before the war. They are generally well-hearted, and normally come upon all they meet with some level of respect unless they are given a reason not to. They do not see the world in terms of good and evil, but rather that there is a bit of good and a bit of evil in all things. They can sometimes be aloof, but are also very loyal to those who they believe are deserving. Altus equines are not at all pushovers and should not be underestimated. The Altus are seen as wise, intelligent, strong, courageous, and powerful beings, and are not necessarily harsh or vindictive. They are not afraid to deliver punishment where it is due, however, but on the other hand, they are not afraid to back down when they are in the wrong.

Since the departure of The Harbingers, Cadomir has put forth much looser entry requirements for Altus members. Because Altus believe so highly in the importance of balance, they do not necessarily turn down those who are more good than evil, nor will they turn down those who are a bit more evil than good.
The only things that could keep a character from being accepted into Altus are as follows:• Characters who have the propensity to attack at random and without reason.
• Characters who have no problem killing and torturing others/those who feel no remorse for hurting the innocent.
• Characters who are disloyal to authority figures and groups, or characters that are only loyal to themselves and no one/nothing else.

Imperium was formed as a result of a great victory that the former Darks of these lands had over the former Lights. Imperium's history could be dated back to when Empress Nirvana took the throne as Dark Queen, and perhaps even before then. Nirvana's goal once she won the throne was to disband the Light Kingdom and rid the lands of its "parasitic" ways. Nirvana quickly formed what was first known as the Dark Militia, and stormed the then two Light lands, taking them over swiftly and without too much trouble. After the Lights had been defeated and after Vita Cinis had passed, Nirvana wondered what to do with the Unaligned. She didn't know if she could fight them as she had fought the much weaker Lights or if some other route could be taken. Before she could come to a final decision, none other than The Harbingers approached her with a proposal for a treaty between their Kingdoms. She agreed to their terms and the two Kingdoms began a time of peace that continues today. As The Harbingers reformed the Unaligned into Altus, Nirvana reformed the Dark into Imperium, her ravine of Obascus being their royal land.

As Altus still holds many qualities of the former Unaligned, Imperium exhibits many traits of the former Dark Kingdom. Imperium does not turn down any equine who will agree to be loyal to their Empress and their Kingdom. This results in many mentally unstable equines within Imperium's ranks, and many who are vicious killers with no remorse or regard for the life of any living thing. Though most Imperium can be pompous, arrogant creatures, not all of them are this way. Imperium does not see itself as good or evil, however. Imperium sees itself as the most superior of all of the factions in the lands. They can be very narcissistic in this regard, and some have the propensity to look down on others just for being part of a different group. As long as you are one of them, they will often welcome you and be relatively kind, depending on which Imperium member you encounter. The highest offense in Imperium is treason, and is punishable by death.

Imperium, like Altus, does not discriminate when it comes to looks, personality, lineage, etc. Since loyalty is their number one requirement, it is easy for just about any character to join their ranks. Imperium doesn't care if you are more good than evil, and certainly doesn't care if you're more evil than good. Any equine is welcome as long as they are loyal to the Kingdom.
The only things that could keep a character from being accepted into Imperium are as follows:• Characters who are disloyal to authority figures and groups, or characters that are only loyal to themselves and no one/nothing else.
• Characters who have the propensity to commit treasonous acts against the Kingdom (having a history of such acts could pose problems but will not necessarily prevent the character from joining).
THE SYNDICATE
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Syndicate resides in the land of Reach, and is ruled by the Mercenary Leader, a stallion called The Meta, and the Assassin Leader, a stallion called Dietrich. A third Leader position is currently open. Other groups hire members of The Syndicate to perform particular tasks for a price. Their mission is to fulfill "contracts" between themselves and other equines, regardless of allegiance. These contracts involve the need for Guards, Mercenaries, or Assassins to do a variety of things when needed. Each member takes one of the three paths upon joining, and they all carry themselves with a level of professionalism, as they are being hired to do a job, whatever their contract entails.
Those who wish to join must exhibit the following qualities:• Characters who will respect their authority figures and follow orders when given.
• Characters who will follow the requirements of carrying out contracts without question.
• Characters who are mentally stable enough to carry out the terms of their contract without issue.
• Characters who are not obnoxiously arrogant, and exhibit a level of maturity.
