I. Harsh sunlight bore down upon the golden beasts hide. The rays poured over his masculine form and his enormous wings. His wings were as black as pitch, tattered and were unable to hold his form in flight for more than a few minutes. Sharp teeth ground against each other as his skull twisted; wings expanding for his full view. The dark appendages bled forever. The warm crimson trickling from the gaping wounds that his father had inflicted many many years ago.. The damn bastard had cursed him not only with no longer being able to fly but for the mark that was burned upon his handsome face. Upon his golden chassis sat a most intimidating relic; the symbol of the antichrist. The upside down cross started at the middle of his forehead and ran all the way down until it faded into his black muzzle. Icarus hated that he bore this degrading mark, it was partially the reason he stayed hidden.

Ice blue and red ringed oracles narrowed as his mind wandered to his child hood. In response to the bad memories his wings flew open in a hostile manor. black feathers fluttered from the appendages but Icarus payed no mind. His massive skull was tossed and with one great flap of his wings his body was propelled into the air. Like a flash of golden and black light, he was gone.

A few minutes passed and more of his gorgeous feathers began to fall from his wings. The great appendages wavered and quickly, his golden form began to descend. The Black feathers being torn and ripped from the fingers of the wings in silent agony. The wing cruised over the feathers and soon he landed. A trail of soft, ebony feathers now lain a path behind him. Long Ebony cords fell to the ground behind his hocks as he now gazed forward with a haunting eye into a new land. Icarus stood there now, at the edge of the dark woods looking over the scape. He had not seen his winter felt queen in ages, nor his daughter.. He worried silently for his small family wondering if hell had befallen them. The mongrel sighed then, before closing his eyes to rest. His fine ears stayed focused on the outside world as his wings ever slowly folded in front of him, concealing himself from the rays that broke through the dark barrier.

She soared high, her powerful wings carrying her into the clouds. She beat the feathered appendages hard, as if trying to get away from her woes and worries. In truth pain, fear and anger burned in her heart, it seared a lava like pit through her chest, a feeling she did not like. She was the Ice Queen! She was suppose to be frozen, all the way to the bone! But now not even a bit of smoke lifted off her pelt, showing how cold she was to the touch. She was normal. She had lost her powers! She felt tears sting in her eyes and she dove down, folding her wings into her bodice as she swooped down, flinging the long appendages out again to catch the wind and fly closer to the ground. She flapped a few times and glided gently over the tree tops. She had come far from her mountain home, away from her calling. She did not hear her mother speak any more. Was her mother mad at her? Did she do something to anger her? Was it because she had fallen in love? Did her mother shun her because someone had melted her frozen heart? She nearly sobbed at the thought. She loved her mate so dearly, the one thing she loved more than her own mother. And she was punished for it.

Tears fell down her cheeks as she thought of her lover and how she hadnt seen him in years. She wondered if he still lived, she also wondered if her mother had somehow punished him, she hoped not, she wanted all of the punishment. Never would she want to see her mate take any sort of punishment for her. Her or their daughter. Neve's thoughts drifted to the little mare that was their first born. Marie Antoinette. She was a pretty little thing. She was a daddy's girl too, though she had loved her mother and father equally. Years ago, she and Marie had gotten separated and no matter how much Neve looked, she could not find her beloved daughter. She took this as part of her punishment as well and she nearly fell out of the sky from her anguish. Her chest contorted painfully and she gasped out a sob, trying to hold it all in.

The icy mare cast her white eyes upon the meadow below her, and she drew closer, flying lower. Grass tickled her hooves as she flapped her wings and then glided across the meadow. As she moved across the expanse, black feathers began to make their presence well known by flying all around her. She was reminded of her lover and how his wings would lose their feathers so easily and it made her chest hurt. With a ting of nostalgia, she followed the trail of feathers, her eyes landing upon a golden bodice at the end of the trail and she just knew it was him. She could not mistake it. This was her love. She whinnied cheerfully and her powerful wings swooped down pushing against the air and pushing her forward, at the last second her hooves touched the earth, her wings moving forward around the stag and the talons at the top of each wing connected, effectively trapping the stallion's neck. I. The stag continued to drift deeper and deeper into sleep, a rare thing indeed. His mind drifted from focus dreaming of his small but scattered family and their beautiful faces. He felt like a failure for losing track of Marie and Neve. It was his one job on this earth now. He twitched in his slumber, his wings slowly lowering from their perch as his dream continued. His dream seemed to go on forever, replaying the past and trying to fathom the future, but he was suddenly brought out of it by a loud whinny followed by the quick movements and then a latch upon his neck. The wintery voice collided with his ears but his body reacted first.

His massive bod lifted in sync with his wings as they shot outward, swiping down with a strong force lifting him, and nearly taking the white body with him. His icy orbs were wide in shock before he realized who it was that hung upon his neck. HEr voice rang loud within his ears still, as he calmed and lowered himself back to the earth. "Neve?" HE said, puzzled. His voice hoarse from months of no use. Without his mate, or his child he had no reason to speak, and now he could no longer feel her thoughts. He knew this new land had done something to him. Something to punish him for abandoning his hope in Neve and Marie. It took his curse and gift. But at this moment he didn't care. HE studied neve even closer, pushing himsel deeper into her embrace. His large neck curled around hers, burying his face into his opposite shoulder. "My Winter Queen, I'm so sorry forlosing you." His voice was full of anguish, of hurt and disapointment. "How did you find me? I thought I had lost you forever." HE murmured almost to himself before slowly easing his embrace. HE worked his way out of her wings grasp and looked down at her beautiful face. It had the faint trail of tears and Icarus's brows furrowed. His blue gaze watched her eyes intently, searching for answers.. he got none. He sighed and he wondered how Neve must of been feeling... Without hesitating he closed the small space again and lowered his neck and skull and rested teh flat of his face against the under side of her neck. He wanted to tell her how much he missed her, how much he missed marie, how hard he searched but his fragile wings would always give out before he could reach the very mountain tops. And now he couldn't even speak to her mind.

and he felt so lost, but now he was okay with it as long as Neve stayed with him.

Excitement flew through her bodice as he lifted the both of them up a few feet in the air, her long legs dangling as her powerful wings held her like a necklace about his nape. Her icy oculars looked up at him, watching as realization dawned on the stag. She smiled softly as he lowered his bodice, his voice ringing out with her name. His voice was as deep and rough as she remembered, she silently wondered if he had even spoken while they were separated. She thought she would never see his golden hide again and it warmed her thawed heart to see him again, to be in his presence, to hold him. She felt more tears prick at her eyes and swore this was the water from where winter had been melted from her bodice. She was no longer the Winter Queen. She let the tears roll down her facade, everything she had known was gone, but not she had found a part of her past and she was greatful. He wrapped his nape around her then and she pressed the side of her facade into his shoulder and rubbed her cheek there. Her harks pricked at his lyrics and she pulled back slightly. "You did not lose me, love, I lost my way and therefore lost you..and our daughter." She felt a knot in her throat catch and she looked away from his crimson and aqua eyes, she did not want to see the disappointment in his eyes. That was all the mare was..a disappointment. She had disappointed her mother and now her mate and possibly even their daughter.

"I haven't the slightest idea how I found you my dear. I searched for years, but only recently found your trail of feathers.." She said, leaning down and picking up one of his feathers with her lips and brushing it against his nares and face before grinning and dropping it. This was when she noticed his face, full of worry and maybe a hint of anger. But she knew deep down, the anger was not directed at her. He closed the space between them and she smiled softly as he placed his face below her head, her wings folded gently at her sides, one wing stretching out to touch one of his in a loving caress. She had missed him dearly, so much so that she had nearly forgotten about her own problems. "I am so sorry for leaving, Mother was angry with me, so I fled and when I returned you were gone. I took Marie with me, but lost her along the way." She said, her voice low and soft, not carrying the harsh and cutting tone it usually did. She made a soft rumble in her throat, as if she were in thought. In one swift movement, she pulled away and flapped her wings, turning to look at Icarus with her mighty wings flared out. "We will make this land ours, we will conquer it and find our daughter together. We will let them have a taste of Winter." The ambitious female stated, smiling at her lover with wide, blue eyes
