Ellaria
The golden coated mare wandered through the lush grass meadows, her limbs brushing through the blades making a whispering sound as she walked. She raised her finely carved skull high into the air and inhaled deeply scenting the salt in the air, made her realise the sea was close, there was also a change in the colour of the grass she moved through from a rich dark green to a paler green and finally turning a slight blue tone. She halted her movement and reached down with her slender neck to take a bite of the oddly coloured grass, she chewed it around in her mouth a couple of times before dropping it all back to the ground, it was peculiar in taste, probably some effect of the salt drifting onto the land from the sea. She moved on towards the beach, her hooves started to sink further into the ground as the soil became sandier in structure, until finally it was just the near white sand beneath her frame.
She gazed around her taking in the features of the shore ahead of her. The edge of the beach curved up higher, to create a large cliff that overlooked the water, where she was stood the beach was smooth with soft sand. However further along the soft sand created soft ripples and then rocks started to build up each one appearing bigger than the first. She started to wander across the beach towards the rocky area, being careful of her steps as she started to move amongst the rocks, particularly careful of the small sharp ones that could only just be visible through the sand. She noticed a small opening in the cliff ahead, the rocks now were mostly large, a couple were even as big as she was in height. Just as she came to the entrance, she missed the small rock as she stepped down and it caused pain to shoot up straight into her front hoof. She let out a high pitch squeal in pain and leapt forward, hopping on three limbs into the cave, letting the mouth swallow her up.
She blinked as her eyes adjusted to the dimly lit cave, she noticed that there was not as much rock inside the cave and what was here was smooth and flat, with a light covering of sand in patches. She stood there and tested her foot against the floor a few times to see how it felt. It was still painful but she thought there would be no lasting damage so that would be fine. It was just frustrating it happened now along with everything else. Just as she had found herself a home and a kind stallion to live with he had disappeared, she had hung around for a while but then left herself to try and find something new. She just had no idea what she was looking for or who she might want either. She wondered how far this cave extended into the earth, she gazed down the tunnel and let out a call “Hello.” All she heard in reply was the echo of her own voice as it bounced off the walls of the cave back towards her.
