A L E X E I Life's a bitch But I'm friends with her sister The ravine expanded out before the painted hessian. Blue orbs taking in each familiar detail of his former home. In recent times, many things had changed. Alex had felt Nirvana pull towards Ranjit with his reappearance, and so he let her be. As much as he obsessed over her, he was slowly starting to learn and change. Though he was still the same Alex that had befriended the empress long before she held such a title. Alexei was aware of the disappearance of Ranjit very recently. That being said, he felt it was time to make a visit to his old friend. Alexei's painted limbs carried him deeper into the ravine of Obascus.
Anger, power, and authority seemed to be the atmosphere it held lately. The Pitt was full of nothing but anguish, and sadness. Alexei was unperturbed by it, though he desperately missed standing beside his friend. He had yet to express his feelings for her, and was unsure when he ever would. So the stag strolled regally through Obascus. Knowing very well that Nirvana usually got a kick out of the pompous creature. Litala had ignored him as of recent, off in some other world of her own he assumed. He didn't care much, Nirvana was truly the only one he cared for.
The temperature dropped as he drew closer to the heart of Obascus. Confident unlike most travelers, Alexei was welcome here. He ached with memories of living here, his youth, his downfall, and his rise to greatness once again. Nirvana had been through it all with him, and it was time he returned the favor. Alexei bared his ivories as he called out for his Empress. Demanding her presence in only a way he was allowed. "Please, don't keep me waiting again. You know how I hate to wait, even if you are my closest, and dearest friend... Nirvana." Alexei smirked as he awaited her appearance. Though his words could be taken offensively, there was clearly a joking tone there. All he cared was to see she was still healthy. Even that annoying bird of hers that grew on him. He was mostly jealous of Atticus however, always getting to reside with Nirvana. He was concerned that it was his job.

He left. Again. For one who seemed so wise, so trustworthy, Ranjit was a coward now in Nirvana's eyes, along with those filthy Harbingers he had claimed to dislike. Now he was on their level, leaving when things got hard. The brindled Empress knew that his heart belonged to another and that, eventually, he would go to her. The children Nirvana had by him didn't seem to matter much anymore. Spawn had gone with his father, and that was all fine and good to the Queen. She never cared for the boy much, knowing that Styx would always be her pride and joy, as he was to inherit her successful kingdom. Gehenna was her first and only daughter, but the girl seemed to slip her mind every so often. She just wasn't as important as Styx was at this particular moment. Nirvana knew she could keep the throne as long as she pleased, but she wanted Styx to take it and run with it in ways that she could not. It was definitely time for another one-on-one lesson with the now two-year-old stag.
The Empress was lost in these thoughts, turning her frustration with Ranjit over to reveal more frustration with the new Altus King and again to reveal further frustration with the various creatures within her own kingdom that she did not trust. It was a continuous circle, and the orange-bay witch found herself sulking more and more these days. The only sound the Queen could hear was the steady rippling and rushing of the creek at her feet. Atticus looked on with concerned coral eyes from a nearby tree branch. He had never seen his mistress so distraught, and he wished he could comfort her, but he knew this was just something she would have to move past on her own. Nirvana was strong, ambitious, and ruthless, but she was oftentimes not very wise. She could also be extremely vengeful when turning away is the better path to tread. Atticus wondered just when this same old angry princess would walk away from the grudges she held against so many, most of which were long gone.
He can go be happy with his precious Adviendha, the wicked empress thought, a fiery scowl painted upon her usually stoic and regal features. That's always what he wanted. All he cared about. What a fucking bastard. I don't need him. I never needed him. He is nothing to me. If he ever returns, I'll slay him myself. The thoughts whirled round and round in the Queen's mind, her violet occulars staring down at the rushing stream. She felt a pulsing, boiling anger rising up through her, and within moments, she hit her breaking point. The Empress reared high, almost falling backward, and smashed down into the stream below with her two front flints, sending drops of water whirring through the air around her, one or two reaching far enough to hit Atticus. The Empress breathed heavily, on the verge of what seemed to be tears. Half of her family had deserted her, it seemed, and she was deeply, deeply distraught.
It was then that she heard Alexei's familiar call echo over the ravine. Nirvana's ebon-tipped auds flickered backward and she closed her violet orbs for a moment, exhaling slowly. She stood like this for a few moments before regaining her composure. She cleared her throat and looked to Atticus. He nodded to her, and she nodded back, curled, inky tendrils bouncing with the movements of her skull. The Empress turned and leapt into a brisk canter toward where Alexei would be waiting. Atticus launched from the tree to follow his mistress, gliding in the air above her as the two approached Nirvana's oldest friend in these lands. The entrance wall came into view more clearly, and behold, the splashed frame of Alexei stood, same as ever. Nirvana came to a halt before the golden-haired hessian and gave a small smile before she spoke.
"Alexei," the brindled witch said, looking the brute over for any fresh wounds or scars. "It's good to see you. It's been far too long, my friend. What brings you from The Pitt?" Nirvana was always one for getting to the point, no matter the situation, or at least that's how she put herself out to be. She had entrusted Alexei, along with Litala, the prison of The Pitt shortly before the end of the war with the Lights. She hadn't traveled there much since, but Styx and Litala's son Achilles had trained and sparred together in their foalhood. The Pitt was a bit quieter now than it had been, as there weren't many prisoners to lock up these days. With any luck, Styx's reign would see a war of its own, and The Pitt would serve its true purpose again.
The Imperium Empress's composure was relaxed, but she held her head high, denying herself any moment of weakness in front of her subjects. These matters with Ranjit had to end. She needed to forget him and focus on what was really important. Ranjit had never been and would never be the end-all-be-all for her love, though he was the one stallion she really truly loved. The others, she admired them, but her heart reserved no place for them, not even Styx's father, The Reckoning. It wasn't a fact she was happy to acknowledge, but it was the truth. Racing thoughts again. Stay focused. Nirvana's gaze moved to Alexei's piercing blue voids as she waited for his familiar voice to grace her ears, hoping he would have something to say that could brighten her mood. She surely needed it.

A L E X E I Life's a bitch But I'm friends with her sister The orange queen soon came into his view. Alex smiled towards the lovely minx, her demeanor was guarded, but very pleased from what he could tell. Atticus was there as well, unfortunately. Alex gave the bird a slight nod, though was mostly unconcerned with it. He had no ties to it, aside from Nirvana. So he tolerated her other close friend. She spoke, that same velvet voice that had wrenched him from that awful place of plebeians. He chuckled faintly in response to her statements. The egotistical brute was back, though much more grown than the years of the past. "What brings me from The Pitt? Why you don't think I could hide this perfect face of mine forever, do you? But all seriousness aside, I came here for you. I might be perfect, but i'm not ignorant. I know what Ranjit meant to you, and we've been friends for so long that I feel I needed to come here myself to make sure you were doing well. He's a coward, twice around this time. Are you doing well, Nirvana?"
Alexei was only so forward before his friend. Though his usually egotistical demeanor was there, he seemed a bit softer too. He shifted his body closer to his friend, Alex was sick of the company of incompetence. He craved to feel the empress's body heat once more. He approached cautiously, still gauging to see what she would like him to do, and how far she'd allow him to come. Alex studied his old friend, pausing his movements to silently question his allowance of closeness to her. "I mean... Spill the shit I guess. You already know me well enough by now... I have a few stories I need to trade with you too." Alex smirked toward his rusted queen.
How he missed her so much. He couldn't wait to tell her about his encounter with Pestilence, and how he'd manipulated some souls to snag Litala a gift she requested. His auds stood attentive, his orbs seemed to question her. Assessing her body language, and he somehow felt moderately offended by her guard. Alex understood though, he had mellowed in many ways since the past. However, now he enjoyed the taste of blood. Enough to kill for his beloved friend, but this visit was not about him, it was about her. So he awaited her response.

The painted stag nodded to the ivory raven and it gave a small nod in return. Atticus knew how much Alexei meant to Nirvana, and he respected him for standing by her for all of these years. He wasn't sure if he particularly liked him or not, but he tolerated him when he was around for the sake of his mistress. Alexei chuckled, and it brought a small smile to the brindled Empress's blackened maw. The fire-hued witch listened to his words flow from him, auds pricked. I came here for you. Nirvana was a bit startled by this, thinking that she didn't really have any friends left who paid her any mind aside from just being their Queen. Alexei did care about her, and that scared the violet-eyed villainess, for she had just been scarred by a one who claimed to care for her as well.
She needed to let this go. Her thoughts tumbled over Ranjit again, and she kept reminding herself that he would have left eventually anyway. His precious Adviendha was much more important, and always would be. Hell, they had existed together, loved together, bore children together, in another life. Nothing could come between that bond, even Nirvana. Her ego was bruised, as she had always seen herself as the top rung of beauty and intelligence. She figured that Ranjit might want her more than Adviendha, that somewhere along the line, he might let his past go for once, that he would move into the future with the brindled Empress at his side rather than that dappled wench he fawned over. She expected too much of him, it seemed.
A coward, twice around. She remembered when he left Litala on the thone when she didn't want it, and in some ways, it seemed wrong of him to do such a thing. If not for that, though, Nirvana may have never gotten the throne after her. Maybe things just happened for a reason, as cliché as that sounded, and maybe Nirvana would just have to roll with the punches and make the best of it. Maybe there was a better horizon to reach, one that didn't involve Ranjit or the family they had begun to build. The orange Queen was worried for her daughter, Gehenna, for she would never have much of a relationship with her father. Nirvana had been very close with her father, and it was important to her that family stayed close. Things seemed to be falling apart as far as her family was concerned. There was no structure anymore. Nirvana didn't even know where Gehenna and Styx were, and she was ashamed of that.
Alexei moved closer, and because the Empress was so deep in thought, she allowed this. She trusted Alexei, but she didn't trust him too much, for the brute did have a bigger ego than even she did, and though he had always been loyal, one can never be too sure. Thanatos had been a Dark King, and at the drop of a hat, he chose to ally with the Lights. Since then, Nirvana had trouble trusting anyone who claimed they were loyal to the alliance and to her. Alexei spoke again, wanting to hear what was bothering her. The Empress took a deep breath and looked to Alexei, his icy blue occulars studying her. "I had begun to build a family, Alexei. I had finally found a stallion that I was ready to spend my remaining years with, and he turns and leaves, back to his old mate. I haven't felt a pain like this before." She paused and looked down to her ashen hooves, curled tendrils snaking around them and onto the sod below.
"But you're right. He is a coward. No better than those low-life Harbingers, leaving their kingdom with a child." A thick anger crept into her voice then, articulations tearing at the air like claws, like fangs. In a way, she was the kingdom that Ranjit had left behind, just as the Harbingers left theirs. It was a new level of narcissism for the brindled witch to think of herself as a kingdom, but she felt no regret for thinking as such. She was a prize to be won and a trophy to be treasured, and she did not like to be tossed aside like she was some sort of one-time side project. Rage began to consume her again, and Atticus felt her muscles tense. The bird held onto his Queen tighter with his talons, and Nirvana felt the pinch and tried to force herself to calm down as she looked back up into Alexei's painted face.

A L E X E I Life's a bitch But I'm friends with her sister Alex watched her movements. Every subtle change he noted. Her ears shifted into a more alert position as he told explained why he had come. Though after he spoke, he realized that maybe this was not the time to trade stories. He waited patiently as she seemed to allow her thoughts to sweep her away. Alexei couldn't push away the anxiety climbing up his throat. He hadn't seen Nirvana so perturbed before. His blue occulars studied her in the silence. Finally she seemed to come back to reality. Enough to explain what troubled her, glancing down at her ashen daggers. He felt a surge of anger course through his veins.
Alexei also felt as though she'd slapped him in the face. She'd found someone else, but he did not show his emotions to her. This was not about him. "He didn't deserve to stand beside you Nirvana. I can't tell you the anger that boils through my veins for what he did. Your family will still thrive without him. Not just a coward, but also stupid. Forgive if it seems I overstep my bounds... but there is no place in this heart of mine for someone who's treated you so cruelly." It was true that he did not know much of Ranjit. He knew what he needed. Ranjit hurt his dearest friend, and that would not be forgiven.
The painted hessian dared to take another step at Nirvana. He wanted to press his muzzle against her, but he'd learned to respect her space. She didn't want him, and he doubted she wanted any sort of touch from a male now. Even a friend. Alex flicked his auds atop his cranium as she mentioned the Harbringers. He couldn't help but allow a scoff to erupt from his throat. "A throne in the hand of a child? That's pathetic. We could probably quite easily take it from him if you desired.... Or let the child run it into the ground himself... I'm only further convinced that the other rulers don't even deserve to stand in your shadow... You've obviously commanded the kingdom much better than any of the past, no? Can I do anything to help?"
Alexei questioned her carefully. He was aware that his words probably held little weight. He was trying to alleviate some of her feelings however. Sometimes it helped just to have someone on your side.

Alexei's words calmed the fiery Empress's rage. The brute took another step closer, and the violet-eyed witch allowed it, though she would correct his actions if he pushed into her space any further. Alexei always knew how to pet her ego, and it raised her spirits quite a bit to hear that he still respected her and thought of her so highly. Sometimes she wondered how many Imperium respected her like this. Nirvana's facade brightened, and she gave a small smile and a slow but confident nod after the painted stag had finished speaking. "Ah, Alexei, you always know how to cheer me up. You really are right." She looked out over the expanse of her land then, reminding herself of all she had done with her royal power over the years. "Your bounds are not overstepped, my friend. Anyone who deserts a prize such as myself should reserve no place in my heart." She patted herself on the back there, letting her narcissism come to the surface. It was time she get back to being that pompous, take-no-shit hellion she had been when she first arrived here and taken Obascus for her own. It was time to get back to her roots.
She looked back to Alexei, then, staring into his icy blue voids, a fire in her own that she pushed to grow taller, hotter. "I think this child on the throne might be what Altus needs in a way. Maybe he'll grow into his own, maybe he won't, but regardless, at least I won't have a family of entitled shitbrains ordering me around. Hell, I could have stricken all four of them down and taken their kingdom within days. I'm honestly not sure why I didn't." The Empress smirked a wide, proud smirk. Maybe it was good that Ranjit and The Harbingers had fled the realm. Maybe now was the perfect time to bring forth another new era of prosperity in these lands, one that would make the earth itself jealous. The brindled Empress thrashed her whipcord, sending blades of grass up into the air at her hinds. "I am the best ruler these lands have ever seen, Alexei, and I don't intend to tarnish my reputation now. You have helped just by being here. Thank you for your words of encouragement." Nirvana closed her violet eyes and gave a small bow of her crania to the blackened stallion. She rose her head abruptly then, letting a chuckle pour from her parted kissers. "Shit, why did I ever send you away? You keep me at my best, Alexei. Always have, always will." She was so thankful for her friend, probably her only true friend, and wanted to keep him in Obascus, but knew that his place was in The Pitt, at least for now. The violet-eyed witch smiled and searched Alexei's expression, waiting for him to speak again.

A L E X E I Life's a bitch But I'm friends with her sister Alex noticed her stance change ever so subtly. He dared not risk another step towards his friend, though they were close she still commanded the lands here. She had every right to restrict access to her, and Alex didn't blame her if she didn't entirely trust him. He was a snarky, and usually back-stabbing bastard. Not to Nirvana though. The painted hellion smirked at her response, he nodded confidently towards her. His eyes flashing back with their own light towards his empress. "Exactly. It seems you have the unfortunate luck of attracting the stupid, and cowardly not ready for your impressive reputation. They're probably all afraid of you, and they damn well should be." Alex spat the last sentence, obviously in reference to the pathetic former Altus rulers, and Ranjit himself.
He was moderately surprised about what she said of the new Altus ruler. Though he assumed she'd met him, Alex was still convinced all the lands belonged to Nirvana anyway. She'd manage them perfectly. "Children tend not to know what to do with power. Either way, it should be quite the entertaining show for Imperium. I'm still very convinced that you could easily take Altus, and all of the lands for yourself. I mean, they practically belong to such an impressive ruler, no? If you ever want help with that, obviously I've got your back for that too." Alexei smirked towards his friend. Giving a low chuckle as she uttered a few more sentences towards him. Particularly taking enjoyment out of her question. He'd long since forgiven her, though the result of his banishment caused him to develop the awful Plague. He needed it, and hence why he remained so undyingly loyal to his queen.
He smirked once more in response, allowing his brain to formulate a response. "Why did you send me away? Because I was an undermining, lazy bastard that needed to be taught a lesson. You weren't afraid to do that. But of course, I stand by the statement I made about us upon meeting. We'd be the perfect team to stir up some shit, and here we are today. While many stupid, pathetic cowards have abandoned you, You will never need to doubt me... and I welcome any punishment from your hand, because I obviously am not going to change my devilish ways..." Alexei smirked. He was dying even to stand beside her, though he refrained from asking.
That was not what Nirvana needed now. "Of course.. I only inflict my devilish nature upon those shit-for-brain individuals. Clearly no intelligent creature like yourself would ever fall for my childish nature. I hope to live much longer to see your entire lineage do great things. I assume you'll be there with me. Even with that silly bird of yours." Alex openly joked with Nirvana. Of course he didn't exactly like Atticus, but he didn't hate him either. That was all he needed, as long as his queen was happy.

The brindled Empress watched a smirk crawl across the painted stallion's maw as he gave her a confident nod. Alexei spoke, and Nirvana stayed quiet as he did, knowing that deep down, he must have some level of anger toward her for banishing him so long ago. It was simple: he had just not attended a herd meeting in Obascus. It was even before Nirvana had risen to the Dark throne. She only did it to show that she meant business, that her authority was not one to be challenged or taken for granted or ignored. She wanted only the most loyal and trustworthy and dependable herd members, and she had lost sight of how important her friendship with Alexei really was. She did regret banishing him, as when they met again after Alexei's run-in with the Plague, he was a changed stallion, more wicked and harsh than before.
Alexei spoke of himself as an undermining, lazy bastard, but Nirvana never saw him that way. An example of a lazy bastard was that damned Evictus, now dead, who had supposedly been standing guard in the ravine. Alexei wasn't lazy, was he? Nirvana's memory of those days had grown hazy, as she had been so enveloped in Ranjit and the children she brought into the world. Alexei recalled when he and Nirvana had first met, a day that Nirvana did remember well. He went on to stroke her ego further, which did please her, but there was an aura about Alexei that felt as though he spoke from more than just admiration of a leader and friend. Nirvana's gaze narrowed slightly as she listened to his words, part of her wanting to step away from him.
When Alexei's voice was gone from the air between them, Nirvana let a soft laugh roll from her ebonite maw, straightening her stance. Atticus seemed to know that he was referenced, and he twisted his ivory-feathered skull to look Alexei in the eyes, his beady coral orbs conjuring an unwavering stare. The bird didn't trust Alexei at first, but after so long, even the raven considered Alexei to be somewhat of a friend. Nirvana thrashed her inky whipcord against her hocks as she began to speak. "They had better fear me. As everyone should have learned from when that so-called former King had betrayed us, I don't take anyone's shit, and no one can intimidate me." It wasn't true, though, that Nirvana was never intimidated. She had been intimidated by Ranjit, and by The Harbingers, and she regretted it so much, but she mostly just wanted to leave it all behind her now. No sense in hanging on to the memory of faces and voices that weren't there.
She paused and looked out onto the expanse of her lands with her wicked violet eyes. "Ah, yes. I intend to let this Cadomir brute do what he likes, but if he crosses me, the Militia will rise again, and we will destroy Altus like we had destroyed the Light." A long pause fell between them then as Nirvana tried to think of something appropriate to say regarding how she had banished her painted friend so long ago. She heaved a breath and looked to Alexei's icy blue occulars before speaking again. "Alexei... Know this: I meant for no ill fate to befall you when you were banished. I knew you would return, but I do feel guilt for causing you such torment... by The Outlands, by the Plague." Her voice fell silent then, knowing that Alexei did forgive her, almost unconditionally it seemed, but an apology was due. It was long overdue, in fact.

A L E X E I Life's a bitch But I'm friends with her sister Alex could feel himself mentally pushing his own limits. So he quietly pulled himself back, the egotistical bastard came right back out. Listening to Nirvana respond to each word he'd uttered to her. He did smirk as she agreed with him. Nirvana had easily proven to him that she was not to be taken as a joke. Even now, he had a comfy position in The Pitt because of her. Even he understood that she could remove him so easily. Alex did not want to go back to having nothing again. Nirvana was the only reason he rose to the greatness he deserved. "I think both gutting the Light Kingdom, and your work with the former, pathetic royals of our dark kingdom speaks volumes. I'm not convinced anyone will really hold a candle to your rule. Thing have grown quiet lately, although there are a few in our dear lands I do not trust.."
Alex actually seemed to grow a bit somber. He knew he could trust Nirvana, and she was absolutely the mare to go to with these things. Alexei did not care for Lucifer, nor the bastard Selven who seemed to reside all too quietly in his home. Perhaps he was still suffering the paranoia from the former plague. His auds piqued as she apologized. It actually made him uncomfortable to hear it. Alex had done something deserving of punishment. While she may have been the cause of his plague, and suffering in the Outlands, she did not intend it. In fact her words confirmed it. Alex actually took a step away from the fiery empress, his obvious discomfort managed to seep it's way from the recesses of his mind. "While I am very aware that your banishing of me was the cause of some misfortune... I never thought you intended for those things to happen. I stupidly took your rule for granted when I was younger. I was never angry at you for my banishment, in fact I realized just how stupid that was of me. Nobody ever had the guts enough to tell me no. You were the first, and please don't think this is me just spilling out some gushing, lovey feelings to you. The reason you're comfortable saying no, even to someone as close as me, is one reason I respect you."
Alex spoke once more. His obvious intensity having faded, although he seemed to spring from his internal world quickly. He did not want to return to such a black, and dark hole of memories. Clearing his throat, he caught a glimpse of Atticus staring at him. The painted bastard began to laugh, though he was not entirely friends, Atticus certainly was a character he'd never forget. Alexei's deep laughter subsided quickly, seeming uncomfortable even now. He pushed away the discomfort, offering Nirvana a smirk once more. "But all of the past aside, if I harbored any grudge against you I would not be by your side now. I never would have returned... However I'm more concerned with a few Imperium creatures I would caution you to watch.... Lucifer being one of them. He's been unusually quiet.. and honestly I just don't like him much... no more than I do Selven. He's got some haughty bitch that moved into his subland.. and she does not give me warm, and fuzzy feelings of trust." Alex seemed rather disgusted as he spoke of them. He'd herd a bit about the new bitch, she'd gotten into a fight with Witchcrypt in the last week or so. Alex fell silent again, wondering how she'd respond to his moving away from her. Obviously she was not the cause, but it was almost as if he was physically pulling back from the memories.

The painted hessian spoke, and the Empress watched his icy occulars as he inflated her ego once more with another flattering statement. Her work with the Dark royals... Nirvana recalled killing Thanatos, and sometimes wished she could kill like that again. She thoroughly enjoyed taking down the beast and digging deep beneath his skin to extract his heart from his thick chest. There was a ravenous, hellish part of the orange Queen that emerged that day, and though she did not let it consume her, she did wish for that feeling again. Nirvana wondered when she would be able to kill another traitor: feel the thrill of taking a life. It was true what Alexei said, though, as Nirvana was building her herd here in the ravine, there were few who did intimidate her. Ranjit being one of them, Lashiel the other. It figures that they were the only two equine she would truly bow to and show respect to as authority figures. When she took the throne, she meant business, and no one was able to stand in her way. She had been a popular and fearsome Queen, and one that demanded respect from underlings and nearly everyone else.
The brindled witch's auds pricked at Alexei's saying that he did not trust some in the lands. The golden-tressed brute took a step away, which made the Empress feel a bit more at ease, never being too comfortable with anyone very close to her. The blackened stallion spoke again, this time a somberness to his tone, one that Nirvana had expected. It relieved the Queen that Alexei had never resented her for her decision to banish him, and she gave a slow nod, acknowledging his words. After a pause, Alexei spoke again, this time his mood returning to its more upbeat nature. He spoke of Lucifer, and the violet-eyed Empress smirked. That old bastard was no threat to her. She had defeated him and then turned around and gave him a comfy seat in her Militia. She had him played into her hands, so to speak, immediately after she proved to him that he was no match for her. Alexei had hated him for ages now, which was amusing to the fiery Queen. One day she hoped to see those two duke it out on the battlefield as well.
Selven, however, was another matter. Nirvana had never paid much attention to him, but she heard whispers. He was another older stag, one with a dark past and even darker habits. He was a notorious ladies' man, something that Nirvana loathed in stallions, the one exception being the splashed hessian that stood before her. She hadn't bothered to step in when the two-toned brute had claimed the terrain of Armageddon. It was right next door, but it was in a safe place. Nirvana to the West, Lashiel to the East, Litala... or... Adhemar now... to the North. If Selven did have some sort of plans for mutiny or worse in the future, The powers that surrounded him could, in theory, envelop any forces that he decided to conjure up. The brindled villainess had heard of this other mare, but also didn't bother to look into her or her insignificant subland she had claimed under Selven. Nirvana had always been the type to deal with problems as they came, rather than worry herself over prevention.
The Empress noted Alexei's clearly disgusted tone, and let a silence fall between them as she gathered her own thoughts. "Mind yourself, Alexei. Not all were pathetic. Our lady Lashiel was and still remains a respectable former Queen." Nirvana smirked, tilting her ebon-pointed skull a bit, her tone light and calm. "And I'm relieved that you haven't resented me. It's good that you see the trials you've faced the way you do. No regrets." Her voice trailed off for a moment or two, and her gaze drifted to the sod, flashes of her own regrets spiraling through her mind. She regretted much, but most of all, she regretted allowing Ranjit to get too close to her heart. "You need not worry about that shithead Lucifer. If he ever tried to step to me again, I would beat him into the ground like I did when I took the throne out from under his hooves." The Queen laughed then, a full, hearty laugh. "And as for Selven, we should probably watch him. I've heard nothing but odd things about that brute." She wondered then if it might be a good idea to enlist the help of The Syndicate in order to spy on Selven and determine if he was a threat to the kingdom. The orange-stained Empress pondered this as she waited for Alexei's voice to ring through the air once more.

Alex allowed his ears to fall back in moderate annoyance. She'd scolded him to watch his tongue, but she was correct. Lashiel had been one of the better rulers of their kingdom. That still didn't mean he enjoyed scolding, though it faded quickly as she spoke a bit more. Her laughter caused his ears to return to an interested state. Joining in her laughter, it was quite the sound. Alex was beyond pleased she referred to Lucifer as a shithead. It was entirely true. He seemed a bit more smug at that statement.
Though the conversation grew serious once more when it came to Selven. The bastard was quiet, secretive and Alex had guessed it was a matter of time before he came at Nirvana for her throne. It pissed him off in a way that only recently Ranjit had done to him. The painted hessian had given his queen a nod of agreement when she told him about her feelings toward the trials he endured. "If anything, I've grown from the rags of the colt because of them." Alex responded to this rather curtly. Indicating he wished not to dwell on that topic too much longer."As for Selven, I have similar feelings about him that I do towards Lucifer. Although I am entirely confident in your abilities, I don't want Selven to try anything. But really, I'd gut anyone who tried to take the throne from your rightful rule.." Alex was growing into a more sour mood. Not at the cause of Nirvana. He was ecstatic about her presence. "All bullshit aside though, I'll keep an eye on him. I apologize for my nature to wander. I'll be doing better in The Pitt from now on. I was more than displeased at Litala's disappearance." Alex admitted openly to Nirvana. Hoping she would not be too upset with him.

The Empress eyed Alexei's blackened harks as the folded back onto his poll for a moment. She didn't try to scold him, though she would not allow anyone to speak badly of Lashiel. She was one of the few equine in this realm that Nirvana actually respected and had no qualms with. Sure, she was a vindictive bitch, and she loved to bend the weak to her whim, but it wasn't anything the brindled Queen particularly frowned upon. The painted stag's mood improved quickly, though, laughing along with his Empress. Alexei spoke, and Nirvana listened intently, nodding slowly at his first statement regarding his various life trials.
He spoke then of Selven, and the orange Queen gave a wicked grin, pleased at how confident Alexei was in her. She valued him for his respect for her and his loyalty, as sometimes it felt as though he was the only one who felt that way. Nirvana had felt detached form her kingdom since the fall of the Lights, and the thought crossed her mind if it would be a good idea to finally have another meeting. After all, since Selven seemed like he could be off in Armageddon plotting something, it would be good to talk with the brute. His eyes would tell all, Nirvana thought. The violet-eyed witch saw how Alexei's good mood was deteriorating, and she kept quiet until he finished speaking, letting the brute expell all of his thoughts.
Once he went silent, the Queen spoke. "I'd expect nothing less. Sometimes I wonder if you're the only one who would do that for me..." He voice trailed off and she looked out toward the ravine's entrance wall, visualizing all of the bodies that had come clambering down the cliffside, spilling news or looking for a place to call home. She wondered what impact she had made on all of their lives, if any. "I would greatly appreciate it, Alexei," she said, looking back into the painted stag's icy voids. "And I don't blame you for ditching that place. Litala's bloodline has ruled it for ages. I'm sure the land was angry too when she left." The Queen stood silent then, watching Alexei's facade for expressions, waiting for what else he might want to discuss.
